The Institute of Chartered IT Professionals, ICITP, is a SAQA (South African Qualifications Authority) recognized professional body according to the NQF Act of 2008.

CCEUP-SA is a work-readiness IT certification. It offers a solid foundation in Information Technology practice and demonstrates the holder’s competence as an adept and capable digital practitioner. CCEUP-SA is accessible to candidates with Information Technology fundamental skills and the ability to provide elementary support to end-users in a business environment.

A thorough analysis and appraisal of the National CAT/IT curriculum by ICITP revealed that matriculants who passed CAT/IT possess fundamental IT skills that make them eligible for Entry Level Practitioner status in the IT industry, however until now there has not been any industry recognition for these skills, making it impossible for CAT/IT educated youths to find gainful employment.

In light of this, the Institute of Chartered IT Professionals (ICITP), in conjunction with the University of Johannesburg (UJ), developed the CCEUP-SA certification to enhance the employability of digitally learned matriculants, reduce the youth unemployment rate, promote lifelong learning and empower young South Africans by preparing them for the 4th Industrial Revolution, as prescribed by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
